About Us

Serene Secular Social Service Society (SSSSS) is a non-profitable, non-political and secular voluntary organization, started by a team of social activities, with an aim of facilitating the process of social change and economic empowerment of rural poor.  The   organization was   promoted as a response to the growing marginalization of women in terms of rights and to find possible solution to the practices that adversely affect the rights of women.  Since its inception the organization has been working among the women, girl children and adolescent girls belonging to the Dalits and Tribal communities. Now SSSSS is engaged in women empowerment programmes by providing rights education, health education and livelihood support.

Our Focus

Serene Secular Social Service Society is a unique organization which is commonly known as SSSSS that was promoted by a group of socially committed activists. The main focus of SSSSS is to promote the rights of the adolescents and young women working at the cotton mills. We work in the districts of Dindigul, Karur, Madurai, Puthukottai, Sivagangai, Trichy, Theni, Thirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Viruthunagar. We have formed working women’s forum in each districts in which there are 2031 women have become the members among them the state and the district level leaders were selected. The leaders strengthen themselves through the capacity building trainings and exposure visits also through the mandatory meetings. The women forum is able to address their issues and to demand their rights from the respective departments. They are proud to be members in the forum as they are well respected in their home town as well as in their work places. They play a vital role in addressing the issues of women at the state level.



Major objectives

  • To make them assertive on their rights and give voice when they are deprived of their rights
  • To ensure their safety through life skills
  • To make them self sustainable economically
  • To advocacy and lobby with the relevant department such as government, employees association, Trade Union, elected members and other community stake holders
  • To avail legal support service for the target group
